Introducing Kew Palace in Watercolour
On a trip to Kew Gardens last September, I was very drawn to Kew Palace. Amidst the lush greenery and botanical wonders from all around the world, this bold red building stood out. The contrast between the palace’s deep brick tones and the surrounding foliage felt almost surreal, and I knew I had to paint it.
I worked with watercolour paint to capture the rich texture of the brickwork and the intricate details of the façade. The soft, layered strokes helped bring out the warmth of the red hues, while finer brushwork added depth to the windows and architectural details.
It’s always fascinating how places can leave such a strong impression, whether it’s through their history, colour, or setting. Kew Palace was no exception. It’s an elegant and unexpected piece of history nestled within one of London’s botanical dream world.

I’ve now made this painting available as A4 prints and postcards, printed on high-quality recycled paper to reflect the natural beauty of the setting.

I hope you love them! ★
